A new algorithm for eigenstructure assignment by output feedback is developed that integrates subspace and parametric approaches to eigenstructure assignment. The algorithm is less restrictive than other comparable algorithms and is conceptually simple. An example of the application of the algorithm and of a gain index for moderating the gain of the resulting controller is provided
