This paper proposes a new and simple medium access control for wireless ATM networks, called estimated backoff TDMA (EB-TDMA). Estimated backoff is proposed as slot reservation scheme on top of ordinary TDMA. The capacity and other characteristics of the system are analysed under different load conditions. The performance of EB-TDMA is also evaluated by computer simulation. A real multimedia system (voice, data and video) for analytical and simulation evaluation. Due to its adaptability to traffic patterns. EB-TDMA offers short delay in light load and high throughput in heavy load conditions
