This paper presents a technique for time-efficient powerline interference suppression from ECG signals using the IIR notch filter with reduced transient response. The reduction of the transient response is obtained by finding non-zero initial conditions for the considered IIR notch filter. Simulations verifying the effectiveness of the proposed algorithm are presented and compared to the traditional filter with zero initial conditions.
