This paper builds the Finite State Markov Channel (FSMC) model of the equivalent channel related to the cooperative diversity system where the relay performs decode-and-forward (DF) to help the source and each link apply adaptive modulation and coding (AMC) at the physical layer. We apply the matrix geometry theory to conduct queueing analysis for two typical automatic retransmission request protocol over such networks; Theoretical results and simulation ones of the delay distribution are given, it is shown that cooperative diversity plays an important role in reducing delay.
