In this paper, direct torque control (DTC) technology of doubly-fed wound rotor induction generator (DFIG) is proposed and applied to variable speed wind power generation systems. This control method is discussed based on the rotor power factor by keeping it equal to one and rotor voltage vectors obtained by using look-up table. The validity of this strategy is shown by using the simulation in SIMULINK/MATLAB. The main advantages of the proposed method are simple structure of the control system, low capacity of the inverter, great reduction of torque ripples.
