It proposed a novel method of fault section location which utilized the pure fault component when fault occur. Based on the calculation of approximate entropy value of transient zero-mode power for both all detection points, it got the scale factor value of every section, then according to the comparison the value to threshold in the main station, and determined the fault location. A large number of ATP simulation showed that both the bus fault and the branch line fault can determined the fault point accurately. Besides, because the fault location method of approximate entropy algorithm needed not the accurate synchronize time of every detection points, it is fit for the actual fault location system.
