This paper presents a highly efficient dual-band inverse class-E power amplifier using double composite right/left handed transmission lines (CRLH-TLs). The double CRLH-TLs are used for the harmonic termination of two operating frequencies. For verifications, the proposed PA is implemented with 25-W GaN HEMT, and tested using continuous waves (CWs) and modulated signals at 900 MHz and 2.14 GHz. For a CW and long term evolution (LTE) signal at 900 MHz, drain efficiencies (DEs) of 70.7% and 25.7% are obtained at output power levels of 43 dBm and 33 dBm, respectively. For a CW and wideband code division multiple access (WCDMA) signal at 2.14 GHz, DEs are 74.8% and 35% at output power levels of 42.8 dBm and 33 dBm, respectively. After the digital predistortion linearization, the adjacent channel leakage ratios at ±7.5- and ±5-MHz are below -45 dBc for LTE and WCDMA signals, respectively.
