We describe our experimental approach to legacy data for multimedia applications in the WWW environment. There have been many proposals for the connection to legacy data and there have been considerable results. Unfortunately these results do not cover some real environmental factors such as the guarantee of persistent results for existing data (for example, payment for a purchase). Our approach allows easy access to legacy data via the Web and our new WWW interface enables users easily to perform common gateway interface (CGI) programming. We also expect that mission critical jobs such as banking and financial operations can be served through the WWW effectively.
