For pt.1 see ibid., p.784-6 (1997). In this paper, the use of an architectural tree growth model as a generator of input parameters for a forest backscatter model is investigated. This is shown to be a useful method to (1) provide input data which are otherwise tedious to obtain, (2) describe the canopy with an enhanced precision which may be useful to explain physical mechanisms involved in the interaction between the electromagnetic wave and the forest
