Frequency-hopped spread-spectrum multiple-access with M-ary FSK over a Rayleigh fading channel is considered. An explicit expression for the symbol error probability as a function of M, the number of users, the number of sub-bands and the SNR is derived. This is used to compare the performance of different block codes, i.e., binary BCH codes, non-binary BCH codes and RS codes. In particular, the codeword error probability as a function of the spectral efficiency is presented for codes of different rates and with different modulation formats
