We propose a new method based on the Distance Transform to determine the square object contained in the image. Due to the different noise and contour incompleteness conditions, the Distance Histogram and Orientation Histogram are proposed and employed to measure the center position, orientation and width of the square object. To demonstrate the performance of the proposed method, the simulation and real experiments were conducted. The experimental results show the accuracy and robustness of the proposed method.
