The paper presents a low cost embedded solution for brushless direct current (BLDC) motor control. An embedded control algorithm for BLDC motor control is presented and the minimal hardware requirements that a microcontroller must have in order to be used for BLDC motor control are described. The advantages with respect to existing control solutions are presented. Using the described approach can be easily validate if a certain microcontroller is suited for BLDC motor control. The pseudo code of the BLDC motor control algorithm is described. A practical application using a Renesas M32C87 microcontroller is presented. A PID controller with anti-windup is implemneted and tuned for a BLDC motor.
