This paper deals with the complex network transient responses to AC and DC faults in transmission network with a fixed HVDC transmission line and varying HVAC transmission lines. The rotor angle stability and management of the reactive power are investigated in order to define the network transient responses. The simulations are carried out using a multi machine power system model using DigSILENT software package. The results indicated that the network transient response cannot be generalized but defined into two separate categories namely AC and DC. During the HVDC transmission line fault, the overall rotor angle stability of the is enhanced with the increase in length of the HVAC transmission line.
