With the increase in the number and the complexity of photonic devices in the present days, evaluating the performance of optical fiber communication systems using only analytical techniques is very difficult. In these cases it is important using computer aided techniques, like simulation, to calculate the performance of these systems. In this paper we present the software PC-SIMFO, a user-friendly graphical environment specifically developed for simulation of optical fiber communication systems. The program was written in C for Windows and designed to run in IBM-PC compatible. To demonstrate the performance and precision of the simulation software we present some results taking as example a high-speed digital communication system
