A novel image coding scheme is proposed, in which structure related perceptual weighting is introduced to improve the performance of the embedded zerotree wavelet image coding algorithm. Significant image quality improvement has been observed. The experiment has been carried out over images with a compression rate ranging from 8 to 64 for still images
