Response of hybrid photodiodes with scintillators under realistic conditions

The performance of proximity focused and electrostatically focused hybrid photodiodes in realistic experimental conditions is reported. We have performed our measurements by coupling these devices to scintillators, and exposing them to a /sup 60/Co source and to a /sup 58/Ni beam. Apparently surprising results have been obtained when measuring the performance in a magnetic field.
