This paper proposes a method for accelerating content usage control information transfer between a host device and a storage device. Recently, several kinds of content usages require high accessibility to content data. However, these storage devices do not provide enough performance to fulfill their usage, because the overheads incurred in transferring Usage Control Information for content protection restrict the transfer rate of content data. The proposed Base-Values Reference Method is simple and enables for the devices to transfer the information to control usage of content quicker and more efficiently.
