Perceptual grouping refers to the organization ability that visual system detect image features in accordance with certain cues. These cues include proximity, continuity, closure, etc. Object reorganization based on perceptual grouping methods have been successfully applied for image processing in varieties. However, in the actual application, due to the light, background and other external factors, the current perceptual grouping methods are not optimal to completely segment the moving shadow from the foreground .Investigations have shown that the texture feature are an effective way to recognize shadow . In this paper, we proposed a new approach for moving shadow detection by combining perceptual grouping with texture feature. Thereby both the complete shadow and vehicles are detected.
