Electromagnetic responses of linear arrays of cylindrical dielectric resonators, which are building blocks of metamaterials, are investigated by full-wave simulations and measurements in a standard waveguide in the microwave range. It is demonstrated that electromagnetic interaction between ceramic resonators fabricated of the material with the relative permittivity of ~37 can cause the resonance mode splitting and the formation of the resonance band even at distances between resonators exceeding several resonator diameters/heights. Interaction-related effects are found to be sensitive to the geometry of interaction and, correspondingly, to 3D positioning of arrays with respect to incident wave setting. The observed effects should be accounted for at designing metamaterial structures.
