Climate change and global environment has become one of the most popular topics. Our understanding of the Earth is expanding for geoinformation technological developments. Scientists, developers and many others have used geoinformation technology to better understand global environment change. Remotely-sensed radiative transfer models, quantitative retrieval theory, data acquisition technology and data assimilation methods are used in global environment change research. The paper introduce the advance in these four aspects. Geographic information system offers a means to assess, analyze, plan and implement environmental researches. The architecture of GIS has developed from early WebGIS to DGIS and Open GIS. The web server format of GIS has developed from web service to grid service, some advances of GIS applied in climate change field are mentioned.
