The current circumstances on a worldwide level urgently impose to exploit technology in order to reduce environmental pollution, CO2 emissions and waste. Moreover, current technologies and the provisioned evolution steps take into consideration these facts and contribute to achieve greener footprint. This paper presents the status of the Cognitive Management Technologies and the evolutionary directions of the research that is executed in this field. Opportunistic Networks and general Future Networks related issues are also discussed, placing special focus on the Green aspects that arise in these technologies.
