The research focuses on the color detection of automobile LCD instrument panel. In order to detect the color of indicating symbol and LCD-screen simultaneously, which the former one is reflector and the later one is self-illuminant. The LCD computer screen and projector apparatus are used in the experiment to represent the reflector and self-illuminant, and then, we analyze their color feature differences in machine vision system. The study shows that the vision features of reflective colors and self-luminous colors in machine vision system are approximately same. However, there are a few differences in their vision features, which will impact on the detective methods designing.
