Modified solid phase synthesis of alkaline earth metal halide (BaFBr:Eu2+) phosphor

A BaFBr:Eu
²⁺
photoluminescence phosphor powder was synthesized by modified solid phase method using BaCO
₃
, NH
₄
F, NH
₄
Br and EuF
₃
as precursors. The powder was obtained by treating BaCO
₃
(1 μmol), NH
₄
F (0.5 μmol), NH
₄
Br (0.5 μmol) and EuF
₃
(0.02 μmol) at 300 °C under argon atmosphere, followed by reduction at 800 °C under hydrogen atmosphere and then decarbonization at 600 °C, with F/Br ratio near 1 and the Eu
²⁺
incorporated about 1 mol% showed the most promising performance.
