A new circuit topology suitable for designing high performance and very wideband monolithic transimpedance amplifiers to be economically produced in large quantities is described. Some outstanding experimental results are reported, which were obtained from a 5 GBit/s MMIC TIA using this topology, fabricated with low cost 0.5 μm GaAs FET technology
