As a widely used herbicide, atrazine has various ecological and physiological toxicity, thus long-term exposure to the environment containing the herbicide will certainly affect the functions of different bio-organisms. K+ channel widely exists in animals and plays a significant role in keeping the excitability of neurons. In this study, whole cell patch-clamp recording was used to investigate the effects of atrazine treatment in different concentrations for different time on K+ currents of cultured cortical neurons from rats. The results indicated that the K+ currents were inhibited by atrazine treatment in a dose dependent manner in cortical neurons of rats.
