This paper analyzes the major impact of size-selection of carton packages on logistics cost, and the importance of giving consideration to both inside and outside size-optimization during the process of package design. Besides, it introduces a software named Multi-parameter Optimization Design System of Package Container Size, which is used to assist package designer on solving problem that reducing logistics costs while designing both the inside and outside packages. The paper gives a detailed introduction on the design concept and the module-functions of the system, and the design process of the aid optimization design module Furthermore, it highlights the searching mathematical model, boundary condition, process parameter of genetic searching and so on, which based on genetic algorithm in assembling management module of the system. The software's size-search module based on the above algorithm can be convenient for designers to quickly search the optimization inside and outside package size during the packaging process, so as to efficiently reduce the waste of space for container vessels, the rate of transportation, the quantity of storage resources and other factors of production. In addition, it offers the logic flow chart of the algorithm for searching process.
