At present, there are many frame synchronization algorithms with some shortcomings, such as high complexity, the various threshold along with the signal energy and so on. This paper proposes a new algorithm of the frame synchronization in burst OFDM system based on IEEE802.11a. After conducted coarse frame synchronization by adopting time-delay and autocorrelation algorithm, the received signal is conducted fine synchronization with the period of short training sequence. The analysis and simulation results show that the algorithm proposed in this paper can effectively improve the bit-error-rate performance of the system. Moreover, it also has low implementation complexity. Therefore, the proposed algorithm is suitable for fast symbol timing synchronization in burst OFDM system.
