Take certain large size bus as an example, a three dimensional geometry model of the full scale bus body framework is established by utilizing Unigraphics software on the basis of two-dimensional project drawings. Then the geometry model is import to ANSYS software to build the finite element model with beam and shell element in this paper. The finite element model also involves treatments of boundary conditions, some simplified skeleton parts, fixed weight and loading that is put on the body framework. Taking three typical conditions such as bend,torsion and crankle into consideration, the calculated results of intensity and stiffness are provided detailedly. The free vibration modes of the bus body framework are calculated, obtaining immanence frequency and relevant vibration model. According to the calculated results, performance evaluating and some suggestions for improvement are advanced.
