A study on building types and cultural characteristics of the ancient towns in Yuan river basin

Mysterious and ancient Yuanshui River since ancient times is a major transport arteries into the southwest .The traditional architecture of the Yuanshui river basin is a habitat heritage museum, bearing abundant regional culture, recording social, economic, cultural situation of the Ming and Qing dynasties, and showing the vivacious local culture. Based on the research and combing of Yuanshui River towns , the thesis points out that the building types of Yuanshui Rive is plentiful, which the buildings mainly fulfils "wharf" function and material distribution, reflecting the cultural characteristics of the primary commercial city. At the same time, building of Yuanshui Rive, located in remote and multi-ethnic place, embody cultural pluralism and multi-ethnic blend characteristics in the construction.
