The Common Information Model (CIM) has actually been around for quite a while. To many, the CIM is simply a mechanism to exchange power flow data. However, it has become much more than that. Over the years, it has gradually evolved into a large, complex model that few completely know or understand. The purpose of the panel session is to bring out the `other' aspects of the CIM for people to see and learn. The various panelists will discuss the different aspects of the CIM as it has grown and evolved over the years and be available for general questions on how to use the CIM, whether it has grown too large and complex, etc. The idea is that after attending the two sessions of the panel that audience members will walk away with a better knowledge of the CIM and how it may be useful to their organizations.
