Flexible Broadband Wavelength Conversion in Quantum-Dot Semiconductor Optical Amplifiers

We successfully demonstrate error-free broadband wavelength conversion using cross-gain modulation in a quantum-dot semiconductor optical amplifier (QD-SOA). Because of the wide gain bandwidth of the QD-SOA, a wide gain range is available for the wavelengths of the original and converted signals.
