In this paper we propose a new symmetric image cipher based on the confusion-diffusion architecture which uses the chaotic standard, logistic, and the sine maps applied to satellite images and utilizes three rounds, two rounds of diffusion and one round of confusion. Many combinations are proposed in the confusion process to choose the best one in the encryption/ decryption algorithms. Some cryptanalysis on the security of the designed cipher is carried out and its computational complexity is analyzed.
