This paper is intended for choosing the wavelet suitable for volumetric image compression using 3D Discrete Wavelet Transform. Here we will be comparing few of the basic and major properties of wavelets such as orthogonality, symmetry, vanishing order, impulse response and frequency response which need to be considered for wavelet selection. Also we will perform 2D-DWT and Inverse DWT on multiple images (Low, High and Medium frequency images) and compare the Mean Square Error (MSE) and Peak Signal-to-Noise Ratio (PSNR) performance of the wavelets.
