Eutrophication of coastal waters has gained increasing attention during the recent decades. In the present study, the spatio-temporal representation of coastal water environment is described, and a tidal flow and pollutant transport numerical model, coupled to GIS, is established to simulate PO4 concentration in Bohai Bay, China. The result shows that linking GIS with simulation model enhances communication of relationships and trends of hydrodynamic and pollutant transport in both spatial and temporal context.
