This paper researches into a remote monitoring system for monitoring the abnormal electrocardio signals and transmitting data automatically through mobile phone messages. Such system utilizes the GSM MODEM and fully-developed GSM network to accomplish data transmission, resulting in great reduction in costs for monitoring and alarm, smaller volume of monitoring apparatus as well as more convenient and reliable operation. This paper introduces the system hardware circuit consisting of heart rate sensor, MCU, interface circuit and MODEM, presents the design for system software realized through GSM based AT command program. Such system adopts the AT89C52 MCU with abundant internal resources to meet the requirements of the system for low power consumption and convenient operation.
