A new architecture combining pixel-domain processing and transform-domain processing in distributed video coding is proposed to reduce quantisation loss. A side information updating algorithm corresponding to the new architecture is also presented. Experimental results demonstrate that the proposed scheme brings up to 2 dB gains in rate-distortion performance without sacrificing encoder complexity significantly.
