The spare parts or service parts from the machine parts industry must be had the standard on making the parts or products for assembly or maintenance. The automobile factory must be preparing the parts for assembly and spare it to service shop. The optimal cutting design for turning can be done to meet the product specifications with parameter design. The problem of spare parts manufacturing are optimum parameters for milling and turning that effect to the life cycle and cost of products. The research methodology was investigated by turning with design parameters and analyze by the Taguchi method. The study was done by combination of three types of cutting parameters, such as depth of cut, cutting speed, and feed rate, are tested to gain the optimal product specifications. The parameter design for this study is three levels on each factor by low medium and high level are dept of cut as 0.50, 1.00 and 1.50 mm. The cutting speeds are 150, 200 and 250 m/min and feed rate are 0.10, 0.15 and 0.20 mm/rev. The result on three parameters found that feed rate is only one parameter that influences to surface roughness which effect to the best surface roughness with control at low feed rate. The interaction effects of depth of cut and cutting speed are not significant but interaction of feed rate and cutting speed was significantly. The turning parameter of low feed rate and medium cutting speed was effect to product quality with the best straightness.
