The electrification of the automobile transforming mechanical systems to electronic control as well as the development of alternatives to internal combustion engines, the transformation of the health care system from a centralized doctor visit based approach to personal, portable, continuous electronic monitoring and telemedicine approach, the conversion to a smart grid, and the social networking revolution through the ability to deliver increasing amounts of data to your phone are but a few examples of intelligent systems that will be based on this increased embedded processing power.
