A video coding methods using max-plus algebra based three dimensional wavelet transforms (3DMP-Wavelets) is proposed. By max-plus algebra we understand an algebraic structure on the set of integers, having maximum, minimum and standard addition as operations. The proposed 3DMP wavelet decomposition schemes are novel classes of morphological wavelets which, in contrast to the existing approaches, envolve only integer calculations and only max, min and addition as underlying operations. As a consequnece, the computational complexity of the proposed image coding methods is very low, so they are quite suitable for video coding. We study the proposed video coding technique from theoretical and practical point of view through various video coding experiments and FPGA implementation.
