This paper presents a new adaptive On-demand Weighting Algorithm based on weight, adaptive On-demand Weighting Algorithm based on signal strength (SAOW). The algorithm applied the signal strength into the clustering process, each node has four weights, the sum of signal strength weight, stability weight, information quantity weight and battery energy weight, meanwhile the cluster structure is improved using signal intensity. Finally, the performance test for SAOW algorithm is given using the simulation environment of NS2. It shows that SAOW has a better stability in AD hoc network comparing with AOW algorithm.
