With increasing pressure on global energy shortage, The energy efficiency of universities' education building is becoming extremely important in the cold zone of China. By investigating two different energy saving designs of universities' education buildings in the cold zone, we found that strictly controlling the shape coefficient of building, rationally using the local materials, strengthening thermal insulation performance of system of building envelope, using renewable energy, such as solar energy, geothermal energy, wind energy. All these energy saving design Strategies can not only reduce costs and energy use, but also have achieved good effect of energy saving, But there were great different cost between them. Hence, energy-saving design of constructions of college teaching in cold regions of China should adopt the strategies which are applicable, low-input but high-return.
