Aiming at overcoming the shortages of uniform circular smart antenna in TD-SCDMA system in coherent multi-path environment, an improved uniform circular array for Direction of Arrival (DOA) based on genetic algorithm is proposed. The algorithm adapts spatial fore-processing technology to transform UCA to ULA, and makes the phase space of array manifold satisfy Vandermonde array. So we can adapt the forward/conjugate backward spatial smoothing technique and then use the global optimization of genetic algorithm for seeking spatial peak to obtain good performance of parameter estimation. The simulation results show that the improved algorithm in coherent multi-path environments can estimate the direction of moving target accurately. Compared with the improved UCA-ESPRIT algorithm, the estimation accuracy has improved greatly, and the BER of user data declines much faster.
