10–40 Gbit/s multi bit-rate GMPLS-controlled transparent optical networks in presence of cross-phase modulation

Three provisioning schemes are proposed to effectively establish lightpath requests in multi bit-rate transparent networks affected by XPM. The scheme exploiting a novel GMPLS extension, by limiting the use of worst-case penalties, significantly improves the overall blocking performance.
