Inductive idling boost PFC converter is proposed in this paper, which benefits with improved power factor and dynamic response speed compared with conventional DCM boost PFC converter. The additional degree of control-freedom introduced by inductor current idling state has been exploited through a simple control technique to achieve power factor correction. Compared with DCM boost PFC converter, the proposed inductive idling boost PFC converter demonstrates much improved current handling capability. Analysis and experimental results of the inductive idling PFC converter have been presented and compared with DCM boost PFC converter to verify the analysis results.
