Kangding County is the important gateway to Tibet Autonomous Region, China. Recently, Kangding County, relying on its water, minerals, tourism, ecology and other advantages of resources, has developed economy, which impact on the ecological environment more apparently. In this paper, we used two LANDSAT TM and ETM data sets and some other vetor data to quantitatively estimate changes in the size of five land-cover/land-use categories. Combined GIS technology, taking Kangding County as an example, this paper analyzes land use condition, and makes quantitative analysis on the driving force factors between 2000 and 2007. Finally, based on the results, we give some advice on land use, land consolidation and ecological environment management.
