Spectrum sensing is a key technology in cognitive radio technology and has attracted lots of attention in both academia and industry. This paper addresses the spectrum sensing under uncertain noise power and proposes an energy detection algorithm, which is based on the wavelet packet transform. By means of wavelet packet transform, noise power and signal power are estimated, and the threshold for spectrum sensing is obtained. The simulations show that the proposed algorithm has the robustness to the noise uncertainty and is a quite promising technology for CR applications.
