An efficient algorithm to optimise the reservoir utilisation levels of pumped storage power plant units in probabilistic production costing methodology, used for power generation expansion planning, is presented. The deconvolutions involved in off-loading the units for optimal reservoir utilisation of pumped storage units is avoided and a new technique is developed.
