Wireless sensor networks consist of large number of sensor nodes which have a constraint energy capacity, How to improve reliability transmission and prolong networks lifespan is very importance subject for wireless sensor networks. This paper firstly makes a summary to power control and the existing routing metrics then finds the several key characteristics of wireless sensor networks communication link, according to the experimental study. From these, PCERM is provided which connects routing metric with power control. Finally, PCERM in the paper is adapted to directed diffusion routing protocol. Simulation results show that after the PCERM in the paper is used. Reducing the energy consumption in wireless sensor networks besides for improving reliability transmission.
