Along with the development of network technology, computer assisted instruction (CAI) is transferred from operating on a single computer into sharing on the network. Meanwhile, its exhibition modes are diversified with the improvement of multi-media technology. Nowadays, the instruction based on the network has become a popular teaching model. The network based on computer assisted instruction (NBCAI) system, as the main trend of the CAI application development, is drawing increasing attention. In order to take full advantage of the network resource in universities, and accelerate the education reform of colleges, we develop Network Based Computer Assisted Instruction System. This system applies the three-layer architecture of B/S based on ASP. The ASP language and the Microsoft SQL Server 2000 are chosen as the tool of the system developing. All required functions of the NBCAI system are implemented, including courseware on demand, question answering on-line, self testing and assignment management.
