Sensor networks are consisting of sensor nodes with limited battery power and wireless communication modules on it. They are deployed to collect the useful information from the field. Topology control is very critical to operate the sensor network for a long period of time. When being deployed, ad-hoc and sensor networks are unstructured and lack an efficient and reliable communication scheme. For multi-hop ad-hoc wireless sensor network, it is a tough job to reduce the energy consumption without affecting the capacity and connectivity of the network. When nodes are deployed with sufficient density on a region of shared-channel wireless sensor network, only a small number of nodes need to be on at any time for active connections with sink node. Here we present the randomized coordination algorithm. The nodes make the local decisions on whether to sleep or to join the network. The nodes will estimate how many of its neighbors will benefit from being awake and amount of energy available. The coordinators are rotated with time preserving connectivity and the capacity of the network. The network lifetime increases as the ratio of idle-to-sleep energy consumption and the density of the network increases. Here we emphasizes on improvement in communication latency, capacity and system lifetime.
